Qualifications Dutch Pinball Team
General news, 16 april 8:37

On April 10th the Dutch Pinball Association organised a qualifying round to determine which team will represent The Netherlands in the Country Tournament during EPC. This qualifying round was being held in the same location as EPC will be held and proved to be suitable for a tournament of this size. In total 10 teams, divided in 2 poules battled each other. Each team has 4 players, who would face another team. Each round 2 players of each team faced 2 players of another team on one machine, while the other team players faced each other on another machine. The best scoring player would receive 9 points, the second best 5, third score got 2 point and the last player 0. All points of the team in each round would be added together and the team with the most point would get 2 qualification points, the losing team 0. After facing every team the highest possible score would be 8 points. After the first round in both poules, the 4 best teams faced each other in semi finales, followed by the best 2 teams facing each other in the finals. The four best teams had a pretty hard fight to determine the best 2 and also the finals were a very tense competition. In this final the rather unknown team from Amsterdam faced well known pinball wizards Albert Nomden, Paul Jongma, Dirk Klaver and Joska Keunekamp. Team Amsterdam played very well, but Alberts team managed to beat them for the win.

The team representing Holland can be seen as very strong, as these players not only play very well pinball individually, but perhaps even better as a team. Add to that the numerous prizes these four players have won in international championships and you can bet the other competing countries will have to bring some very good players in order to stand a chance. We will find out on the 21st of May.
